Combat Philosophy
Pencak Silat Pertempuran, like most silat systems, is offensive and direct. Our goal is to quickly take over the timing of the conflict even if in a seemingly defensive state. We do this by immediately disrupting the adversary's structure and interrupting their attacks and mental focus. At no point do we consider ourselves defensive. The whole of the Combat Silat system is an attempt to maintain an offensive attitude and tactics base even when being attacked.
Our primary principle is "langkah dari batu ke batu", that is, "stepping from stone to stone". This principle teaches us that all throughout life and combat, there is opportunity and that we should take each moment as it comes, allowing it to help us take the next step.
Heritage
Pencak Silat Pertempuran is primarily based on Maduran style pencak silat and specifically, Pencak Silat Pamur and another lesser known Maduran family system. In addition, Pencak Silat Pertempuran contains influences from Pencak Silat Raja Sterlak, as well as Jati Wisesa, Raja Monyet, Mutakhir Paseban, Hok Kuntao, Serak® and various Filipino stick fighting methods.
As a Martial Art
Pencak Silat Pertempuran is a simply structured and easy to learn presentation of those principles, positions, and movements or mechanics that best exemplify pencak silat. In addition, those elements have been continually revisited and examined to provide an inter-connectivity amongst pieces of the system that is rarely seen today.
